Tesla Auctions Excess Model S/X Parts—Single Sale Estimated at Over $840,000

Tesla has halted production of the Model S and Model X and has begun auctioning excess parts through the B-Stock liquidation platform. The lots are sold by pallet and include hundreds of brand-new, unused components, primarily targeting repair shops, resellers, and parts suppliers. One auction features 171 Model S center console assemblies along with other parts, with a combined manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $114,875—currently bidding at just $175. Another listing includes 775 Model X interior pillar trim components, valued at approximately $270,645 MSRP, starting at $100. Additional auctions include six pallets of Model X exterior lighting and chassis components (MSRP: $87,870) and nine pallets of Model S/Model X electrical parts—over 10,000 items in total—with an MSRP of $842,390. Tesla officially ended production of both models in 2026 and dismantled the associated assembly lines at its Fremont factory within 46 days to free up space for its Optimus humanoid robot project. The company announced it will release design documentation and open-source software materials for the Model S and Model X. Despite these auctions, Tesla must retain some inventory to fulfill warranty obligations. The base vehicle warranty for the Model S and Model X covers four years or 50,000 miles, while the battery and drive unit are covered for eight years or 150,000 miles. U.S. federal law does not mandate automakers to supply all replacement parts indefinitely after a vehicle model is discontinued.
