BYD’s All-New Tang to Debut at 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, Launching in Second Half of Year

BYD’s all-new Tang will make its global debut at the Chengdu Auto Show, which opens on August 21, 2026. The new model will form a dual-vehicle product lineup alongside the Tang Da, adopting an entirely new naming system and is expected to launch in the second half of 2026. According to filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the all-new Tang continues the design language of the Tang Da, featuring a closed-off front grille, upward-sweeping headlights, and a horizontal chrome strip spanning the front fascia. At the rear, it sports full-width taillights, a prominent BYD logo, and a large roof-mounted spoiler. The vehicle comes standard with BYD’s “God’s Eye B” intelligent driving system. The new Tang measures 5,045 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,760 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm and both front and rear track widths of 1,700 mm. Compared to the Tang L, its length, wheelbase, and height are nearly identical, though it is slightly narrower in body width and track. In terms of powertrain, the currently filed variant features a single-motor configuration equipped with the TZ205QYD electric motor, delivering a maximum output of 300 kW and a top speed of 250 km/h. Two battery options are available: 88.682 kWh and 105.792 kWh, offering CLTC-rated ranges of 730 km, 830 km, and 850 km respectively. The chassis is expected to feature BYD’s Yunniu-A intelligent air suspension system, complete with dual-chamber air springs and intelligent road-preview capabilities.
