On August 18, GAC and Huawei jointly launched the Qijing GT7 new energy vehicle, priced between RMB 209,900 and RMB 329,900, with five variants available. The vehicle is equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving system and an 896-line dual-optical-path imaging-grade LiDAR, along with 11 high-definition cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. During the world’s first teardown event for an L3 conditional autonomous driving architecture, Huawei Senior Vice President Jin Yuzhi and Tim, founder of Film Riot, conducted a live demonstration: after covering all 11 cameras with black tape, the vehicle could still perceive its surroundings using only the LiDAR. Jin noted that in nighttime scenarios where oncoming high beams from a large vehicle ahead blinded the cameras, the car could still detect weaving electric scooters via LiDAR and execute appropriate evasive maneuvers.
