Recently, several multinational automakers have finalized long-term joint venture renewals with their Chinese partners. General Motors of the United States and SAIC Motor announced an extension of their joint venture agreement until 2047. Previously, Honda of Japan and GAC Group, as well as Volkswagen of Germany and SAIC Motor, also signed joint venture renewal agreements. China’s passenger vehicle annual sales remain steadily above 20 million units, supported by a comprehensive industrial supply chain and a dynamic technological innovation ecosystem. As the global auto industry shifts toward electrification and intelligent mobility, collaboration models between Chinese and foreign automakers are evolving from technology transfer to co-creation, joint R&D, and shared capability development.
