Approved by the State Council, the 2026 World New Energy Vehicle Battery Conference will be held in Yibin City, Sichuan Province, from September 3 to 4, 2026. Hosted by the People’s Government of Sichuan Province and co-organized by the People’s Government of Yibin City, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, and the Equipment Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the conference will carry the theme “Powering Everything, Integrated Coexistence.” The event will feature a “1+1+8+N” series of activities, including one opening ceremony, one plenary session, eight specialized forums, and numerous concurrent events such as exhibitions and outcome showcases. The specialized forums will focus on industry policies, cutting-edge technologies, innovative applications, new energy storage, battery recycling, and other key areas. Key publications to be released include the *Battery Industry Development Index (2026)*, the *Battery Technology Roadmap*, and a compilation of innovative technological achievements in the battery field for 2026. To date, nearly 600 distinguished guests have confirmed their intention to attend, with over 120 leading domestic and international companies—including Tesla, CATL, and BYD—set to showcase their latest products and technologies. Spain has been invited as the Guest of Honor country, and consular officials from German and South Korean consulates general in Chengdu and Chongqing, along with global experts, scholars, industry association representatives, and supply chain stakeholders, will also participate. During the conference, a China-Spain Industrial Cooperation Exchange, the launch ceremony of an International Green Supply Chain Initiative for the battery industry, and specialized sessions on international collaboration will take place. Since its inaugural edition in 2022, the World New Energy Vehicle Battery Conference has successfully held four editions in Sichuan, attracting more than 1,100 key enterprises and nearly 7,000 prominent attendees. The event has unveiled nearly 700 new technologies and products and facilitated the signing of over 400 major projects with a total investment of approximately RMB 380 billion. Currently, the conference is establishing an expert committee led by renowned academicians in the battery field. It will further promote integration between power batteries and sectors such as passenger vehicles, construction machinery, low-altitude economy, and embodied intelligence. A number of anchor-chain projects are expected to be signed, including accelerated implementation of initiatives like Yibin’s first locally manufactured robot. Benchmark demonstration scenarios in zero-carbon industrial parks, testing and certification, energy storage, and artificial intelligence will also be showcased. According to the Yibin Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Yibin is known as “China’s Capital of Power Batteries,” producing one out of every ten lithium-ion power batteries globally. CATL has already built a production capacity of 270 GWh in Yibin, with an additional 80 GWh facility under construction set to come online soon.
