Tesla has confirmed that its all-electric Semi semi-truck will make its debut at the IAA Transportation commercial vehicle show in Hanover, Germany, from September 15 to 20, 2024. At the event, Tesla will unveil detailed specifications and market launch plans for the European version of the Semi, which could enter the European market as early as 2027. Originally unveiled in 2017, the Semi began operations in the United States in 2022. The U.S. model is offered in Standard Range and Long Range variants, with ranges of 523 km and 805 km, respectively. Both versions feature a tri-motor powertrain delivering up to 1,073 horsepower. Their battery capacities are 548 kWh and 822 kWh, respectively, and both support charging at up to 1.2 megawatts. In the U.S., the Standard Range Semi is priced at $260,000 (approximately RMB 1.754 million), while the Long Range version costs $300,000 (approximately RMB 2.024 million). Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada transitioned the updated Semi from trial production to full-scale mass production in April 2024, with an annual production target of 50,000 units. In Europe, competitors such as the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 are already available. The eActros 600 features a 621 kWh battery pack and offers a maximum range of 560 km, with a current price tag of approximately €300,000–€400,000 (roughly RMB 2.355 million–RMB 3.14 million).
