Multiple Automakers Recall Vehicles Over Hard-to-Identify Emergency Mechanical Release

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-08-21 18:38:00

On August 21, multiple automakers—including Tesla, Xiaomi, XPeng, Geely, Leapmotor, Chery, Dongfeng, BAIC BluePark, and FAW—filed vehicle recall plans with China's State Administration for Market Regulation. The recalls involve an issue with the emergency mechanical door release handle inside the vehicles. The manufacturers stated that the handle closely matches the interior color, making it difficult to identify and operate. In extreme scenarios such as severe collisions that cause a complete failure of the vehicle’s low-voltage system, this could impede occupants from quickly opening the doors to escape and hinder external rescuers from carrying out timely assistance, posing a safety hazard.
