On August 20, Zhipu AI announced that the model weights for OxAlpha—the latest version in its GLM series—would be officially released that evening. Earlier the same day, the global AI aggregation platform OpenRouter had already launched the anonymous model OxAlpha, offering free access during a preview period. Following its launch, OxAlpha quickly surged to the top of the platform’s usage rankings, setting a new single-day record for model usage. The end-user programming agent OpenCode also made the model available through a free tier, claiming it could process up to 100 trillion tokens per day. Researchers analyzing tokenizer fingerprint patterns across 25 prompts found that OxAlpha’s token count was nearly identical to that of GLM-5.3, differing only by a constant wrapper-layer offset of 75 tokens. Additionally, its video encoder behavior and API response characteristics closely resembled those of Zhipu AI’s architecture.
