On August 27, Alibaba launched the new Qoder Agent Workbench. Centered around coding capabilities and designed for all users, this platform can understand requirements, formulate plans, invoke tools, execute tasks, and verify outcomes—allowing users to monitor, adjust, or take over the process at any time. Since the original Qoder IDE was released in August 2025, it has attracted over 6 million global users and more than 100,000 enterprise customers. The new version of Qoder shifts its focus from code engineering to agent-driven tasks. Leveraging Harness technology, it supports end-to-end autonomous workflows through a “read–modify–verify–iterate” loop, enabling it to independently search codebases, edit across multiple files, run tests, and self-correct based on actual results. The platform features a tiered permission model and a tool whitelist mechanism, requiring explicit user authorization for sensitive operations. Qoder integrates state-of-the-art (SOTA) models from both domestic and international sources, all deeply optimized and co-evolving with the Qwen series. These enhancements improve long-context handling, automatic context compression, and tool-calling accuracy. The platform offers two modes: Programming Mode, tailored for developers and code-related tasks, and General Mode, designed for broader user groups and scenarios. Qoder supports cross-session long-term memory and can periodically distill and refine its own skills. It is already integrated with over 40 connectors, 70+ plugins, and 20,000+ skills, seamlessly connecting systems such as code repositories, project management tools, cloud services, and internal enterprise tools—incorporating them as contextual resources and actionable tools within AI workflows. Additionally, Qoder supports voice activation and can proactively deliver task progress updates, critical alerts, and next-step suggestions. The new Qoder desktop application is now available for download in both international and China-specific versions.
