FAW Group recently completed the fabrication of its first full-size perovskite photovoltaic sunroof prototype, which seamlessly conforms to the vehicle's double-curved surface. This marks the first time globally that perovskite photovoltaic technology has been integrated into automotive safety glass. Under sufficient sunlight, the prototype can generate nearly 300 watts of real-time power, with an estimated annual output of approximately 400 kWh. According to calculations, if photovoltaic technology were fully integrated across a passenger vehicle’s entire body—including the sunroof and hood—the maximum daily power generation could reach 10 kWh, equivalent to an additional 80 kilometers of free range, meeting the daily commuting needs of over 85% of drivers in China.
