On August 27, Lance Wulf, Honda’s U.S. sales chief, stated during a media roundtable that the Fit is currently not included in the company’s product plans, though a potential return in the future remains possible. The Fit has been absent from the U.S. market for approximately five years, and Honda currently has no specific project to reintroduce the model. Wulf noted that the company is evaluating all options for its entry-level vehicle lineup but is not yet prepared to allocate engineering resources or budget toward reviving the Fit. For now, Honda is meeting U.S. demand for affordable entry-level vehicles through the Civic and HR-V, and plans to increase production of these two models. Tsuneya Kurihara, Executive Vice President of Honda, added that the company’s North American operations are nearing full production capacity and that Honda is assessing the construction of an eighth vehicle assembly plant, targeting startup around 2030, primarily for hybrid vehicle production. Honda aims to launch 15 new hybrid models in North America by March 2030, with current resources prioritized for hybrid products rather than Fit revival efforts. In China, GAC Honda launched the new-generation Fit in January 2024 at a refreshed starting price of RMB 66,800, with a limited run of 3,000 units. On February 3 at 17:30, GAC Honda notified its nationwide authorized dealers to stop accepting new orders after system data showed order volumes had neared the 3,000-unit cap. Reports indicate total orders have already exceeded 5,000 units. According to sources, GAC Honda will not schedule any further production of the new Fit beyond this initial batch.
