On August 27, 2024, the BMW Group announced that it has delivered two million battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to customers since the launch of its first BMW i3 in late 2013. Including plug-in hybrid models, the company has delivered approximately 3.5 million electrified vehicles globally since 2013. The two-millionth BEV was a BMW i5 M60 xDrive produced at the Dingolfing plant and delivered to a customer in Spain. By the first half of 2026, one in every four BMW vehicles sold will be electrified. In Europe, BEV deliveries surged by 38% year-over-year in the second quarter of 2026, reaching 81,445 units; BEVs accounted for approximately 28% of BMW’s total sales in the region during the first half of the year. Since the global debut of the iX3, one in every three BEVs ordered in Europe has been an iX3, and half of all X3 model orders are now for the all-electric iX3 variant. BMW Group’s Munich plant commenced series production of the new BMW i3 in August 2024. The model had already garnered substantial orders during its pre-launch reservation phase.
