A recent survey by Carwow reveals that as of August 2024, 49% of drivers in the UK are willing to switch their next car to a Chinese brand—a significant increase from 35% in the first half of 2024 and 24% in the first half of 2023. Currently, 71% of UK car owners have heard of BYD, 69% are aware of Jaecoo (a brand under Chery), and 57% have heard of Omoda (also under Chery). The proportion of respondents completely unfamiliar with Chinese car brands has dropped from 23% in the second half of 2023 to 16% today. The survey also shows that 42% of consumers consider Chinese cars primarily due to their high value for money, while 19% believe Chinese brands offer a wider range of electric vehicle options.
