On August 29, the 2026 China International Big Data Industry Expo was held in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. A senior official from the National Data Administration stated at the event that China has built over 126,000 high-quality datasets nationwide, with a total volume exceeding 1,815 petabytes (PB)—an increase of more than 89% since the end of the first quarter of 2026. High-quality datasets refer to collections of data that, after processes such as collection and processing, can be directly used for developing and training artificial intelligence models. Since its launch in April 2026, the National Dataset Management and Service System has released over 1,700 datasets. This year’s expo featured a “Data Marketplace” for the first time, where 95 data companies showcased 253 premium data products.
