On August 30, images of a prototype Aston Martin Vantage RS Roadster undergoing testing in Europe were released. The model is expected to compete with the Porsche 911 GT3 S/C upon its market launch. Powering the prototype is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine supplied by AMG, with output estimated to approach 700 horsepower. In terms of aerodynamics, the car features an enhanced package similar to that of the RS coupe, including a redesigned front fascia, a deeper front splitter, vented front fenders, a rear diffuser, four centrally mounted exhaust tips, and a large fixed rear wing. As is typical with convertible models—due to the removal of the fixed roof—additional structural reinforcement is required to compensate for reduced body rigidity, resulting in increased weight. Based on current models, the standard Vantage Roadster weighs approximately 130 pounds (60 kg) more than the standard Vantage Coupe.
