On August 30, NIO launched its 500th battery swap station in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, marking a significant milestone in the province’s swap station deployment. Zhejiang has now become the Chinese province with the highest number of NIO swap stations and has achieved full coverage of its expressway network with battery swap infrastructure, ensuring "swap accessibility in every county." Since NIO began vehicle deliveries in Zhejiang in June 2018, cumulative sales in the province surpassed 200,000 units by August 30, 2026—the first provincial-level region nationwide to reach this milestone. As of August 30, 2026, NIO had deployed a total of 9,291 charging and battery swap stations across China, including 4,058 swap stations. Of these, 1,051 swap stations are located along national expressways, covering nine north-south corridors, eleven east-west corridors, and 16 major urban clusters, connecting over 550 cities. Additionally, NIO has completed 89 “Power Scenic Routes,” including the G318 Sichuan-Tibet Highway, Yunnan-Tibet Highway, and Hexi Corridor. The company plans to expand this network to over 100 routes by 2026. The Silk Road Battery Swap Route will be fully operational later this year, enabling users to start from any NIO swap station in China and reach every provincial-level administrative region on the Chinese mainland using only battery swaps throughout their journey.
