Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), a prominent Silicon Valley venture capital firm, recently announced the launch of a new fund called "MachineAge," which has raised $1.1 billion. The fund will focus on hardware-related sectors such as computing chips, memory, data centers, and robotics. In its announcement, a16z stated that the new fund targets the growing demand for faster and more efficient systems, as well as cheaper, higher-bandwidth memory and interconnect solutions, noting that advancements in these areas depend on improvements in infrastructure like thermal management, materials, and power delivery. Founded in 2009 by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, the firm currently manages over $90 billion in assets and invests in technology companies ranging from seed to growth stages.
