On August 29, CRRC Corporation Limited officially announced that it supplies the front electric drive unit for Xiaomi Auto's Pengcheng series. The company stated that this electric drive product leverages its accumulated expertise and engineering systems from the high-speed rail sector, including permanent magnet technology, power conversion control, thermal management, and high-reliability design. CRRC emphasized that the product’s “stable, efficient, and durable” characteristics stem from its high-speed rail R&D heritage, while clarifying that although automotive electric drives and high-speed rail traction motors share a common technological origin, they differ in hardware implementation. CRRC added that its electric drive products currently rank among the top three third-party suppliers in China and have already been supplied to automakers including FAW, Changan, BAIC, SAIC, and Xiaomi. Previously, in July 2024, Xiaomi unveiled its Kunlun Technology Architecture as the technical foundation for the Pengcheng “smart, variable large-space SUV.” This architecture comprises three core technologies: the Xiaomi Kunlun Platform, Xiaomi Kunlun Super Range Extender, and Xiaomi Kunlun All-Terrain Safety System. CRRC has been listed as one of the outstanding domestic suppliers within this architecture.
