BYD Tang Crushed by Truck; All Four Occupants Sustain Only Minor Injuries

On August 30, a traffic accident occurred on a national highway in Chongqing. A BYD Tang of the new generation was struck sideways by an overloaded truck that was overtaking in the opposite lane while the BYD vehicle was driving normally. The impact forced the car off the road and down an embankment, causing severe damage to the body. All four occupants sustained minor injuries, primarily rib-related. At the time of the crash, the vehicle’s airbags deployed successfully, the passenger compartment structure showed no significant intrusion, and the battery pack did not catch fire or ignite. The new-generation BYD Tang features a body frame structure with 13 horizontal and 9 vertical beams, and high-strength steel and aluminum account for 84% of its construction.
