BYD recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with PaXini Tech, deepening collaboration in data collection and robotics to advance the application of robots in industrial manufacturing scenarios. BYD will contribute its expertise in automotive manufacturing—including vehicle and component production processes, factory environments, supply chain resources, and vast amounts of real-world operational data—to support robot validation and large model training. PaXini will leverage its technologies in tactile sensors, multi-dimensional perception, and full-modality embodied data collection to enhance robotic perception capabilities. In April 2025, BYD acquired a 7.95% stake in PaXini, becoming its second-largest shareholder. This agreement marks an expansion of their partnership from a capital relationship to strategic synergy. Founded in 2021 by a team originating from Professor Sugano’s laboratory at Waseda University in Japan, PaXini has established a closed-loop technology stack spanning “perception hardware—dexterous hands—data collection—embodied large models—robotic platforms.” Over the past year, the company has consumed nearly one million self-developed tactile chips, and its full-modality data is already being adopted by multiple leading embodied AI foundation model companies and major internet technology firms.
