On August 31, the all-new Ford Transit City rolled off the production line at Jiangling Motors’ Xiaolan Plant, with the first batch of approximately 1,000 units soon to be shipped to overseas markets. Co-developed by Ford China, Ford’s global engineering teams, and Jiangling Motors, this model marks Ford China’s first battery-electric commercial vehicle exported to developed markets such as Europe. It is available in three body configurations: L1H1 van, L2H2 van, and single-cab chassis, offering a maximum payload of up to 1,600 kg and a cargo volume of up to 8.5 cubic meters. The vehicle is powered by a 56 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack and a front-mounted 110 kW electric motor, delivering a maximum WLTP range of 254 kilometers. A 10-minute fast charge can replenish enough energy for 50 kilometers of driving range. High-voltage components come with an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty, and maintenance costs are expected to be approximately 40% lower than those of conventional diesel models. Standard driver-assistance features include Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Aid, Intelligent Speed Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The Transit City also comes equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Order books for the European market opened in Q2 2026, with first customer deliveries expected before the end of the year.
