According to reports on September 3, Xie Baojun, Vice President of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. and head of its Intelligent Technology Center, is suspected to have left the company, as his internal Feishu account status shows "suspended." Chery Automobile has not yet responded to this matter. Prior to joining Chery, Xie worked within the Geely group. Around 2010, he joined Volvo Cars, where he was responsible for R&D in software, electronics, autonomous driving, vehicle electronic/electrical (E/E) architecture, and intelligent connectivity. He held several senior roles at Volvo, including Senior Director of Software and Electronics at Volvo’s R&D Center and Senior Director of R&D for Volvo Cars Asia Pacific. After leaving Volvo, Xie served as Vice President of Zeekr Intelligent Technology and Head of its Software and Electronics Center, leading the development of E/E architectures and related software-hardware platforms. In October 2024, he departed Zeekr and joined Dazhuo Intelligence, a subsidiary under Chery, to oversee intelligent driving-related R&D. In May 2025, Chery integrated businesses from LION Tech, Dazhuo Intelligence, and relevant units of its R&D General Institute to establish the Intelligent Technology Center, appointing Xie Baojun as the de facto operational head responsible for coordinating smart cockpit, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and digital architecture initiatives.
