BYD Sealion 08 Racks Up Over 12,000 Orders in 24 Hours After Launch, Priced at RMB 229,900–279,900

The BYD Sealion 08 launched on September 3, securing over 12,000 firm orders within 24 hours of its market debut. The vehicle is offered in eight configurations, with prices ranging from RMB 229,900 to RMB 279,900. Designed with BYD’s Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design language, it features a full-width daytime running light and split-type high/low-beam headlamps. The interior boasts 53 storage compartments throughout the cabin, including a three-tier privacy storage area, driver-side eyeglass holder, passenger-side glovebox, center console bin, portable hooks, dedicated umbrella slots, a 7.3L smart in-car refrigerator, second-row phone slots, and third-row inspired storage bins. In terms of powertrains, the Sealion 08 is available in both all-electric and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants. The BEV versions include a single-motor low-output model (320 kW), a single-motor high-output model (370 kW), and a dual-motor variant (215 kW front / 370 kW rear). The PHEV version pairs a 1.5T engine (maximum output: 115 kW) with front and rear electric motors, each delivering peak power of 200 kW. The vehicle is equipped with BYD’s proprietary Yunniu-A closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension system featuring road preview functionality, as well as a rear-wheel steering system that achieves a turning radius of just 4.95 meters. It also supports comprehensive parking assistance features, including automatic parking, exit-and-park, and smartphone-controlled remote parking. For range performance, the BEV variant delivers up to 900 km under CLTC conditions. The PHEV model offers 400 km of pure-electric CLTC range and a combined CLTC range of 1,650 km, with a NEDC-rated fuel consumption of 4.6 L/100 km under charge-depleting conditions. Both variants are powered by BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and feature ultra-fast charging technology.
