EU Battery Passport Rules Take Effect February 2027 as Xiaomi EVs Enter Europe

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-09-03 23:05:06

According to EU Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, all new electric vehicle batteries placed on the EU market from February 18, 2027, must be equipped with a battery passport. This passport serves as a lifelong digital ID for each battery, containing information such as the manufacturing plant, the amounts of recycled cobalt and recycled lithium used, cycle life, and methods for disassembly and recycling at end-of-life. Electric vehicle batteries without a battery passport will be denied access to the EU market. Xiaomi Auto plans to enter the European market in 2027.
