Chery Jaguar Land Rover's Freelander 8 Hits 5,000 Orders in 12 Hours, Starting at RMB 289,900

On the evening of September 3, Chery Jaguar Land Rover launched the Freelander 8, which garnered over 5,000 firm orders within 12 hours of its market debut. The vehicle is priced between RMB 289,900 and RMB 379,900. It measures 5,118 mm (or 5,185 mm with spare wheel mounted)/2,050 mm/1,898 mm (L/W/H) and features a wheelbase of 3,040 mm, offering either a 2+2+2 six-seat or a five-seat configuration. Developed jointly by FREELANDER, Huawei, CATL, and Qualcomm, the Freelander 8 comes standard across all trims with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SA8397 automotive-grade chip. It is equipped with a 15.6-inch Mini LED central touchscreen and a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted rear-seat display. Powering the vehicle is a standard 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder range extender with a thermal efficiency of 45.79%, capable of generating 3.7 kWh of electricity per liter of 92-octane gasoline. It also features Engine Noise Cancellation (ENC). All variants are equipped with a dual-motor AWD system delivering a combined output of 610 kW and peak torque of 813 N·m, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 4.6 seconds. The rear axle features a standard 250 kW two-speed motor, delivering up to 8,000 N·m of wheel-end torque and supporting rear-wheel steering with ±10° of angle, resulting in a turning radius of no more than 5.15 meters. Chassis features include a closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension, CCD continuously variable damping shock absorbers, and a front mechanical differential lock. The battery is CATL’s Xiaoyao range-extending, all-terrain-specific pack with a capacity of 60.3 kWh, offering a CLTC pure-electric range of 310 km. Built on an 800V high-voltage platform, it supports 6C ultra-fast charging, enabling a 20%–80% charge in as little as 12 minutes.
