On the afternoon of September 4, Xiaomi held a strategic partnership launch event for its Longjia battery, announcing that the battery was co-developed by Xiaomi in collaboration with China Aviation Lithium Battery (CALB) and Sunwoda. Li Xiaoshuang, Vice President of Xiaomi Automobile, stated that Xiaomi will take full-chain responsibility for the Longjia battery, including product definition, end-to-end quality control, leading the design and development of the battery pack, and participating in cell design and development. Xiaomi has delved deep into the fundamental layers of battery cells, jointly developing the electrochemical system, cell design, and manufacturing processes with its suppliers to ensure the cells’ cycle life and safety margins. Additionally, Xiaomi will lead the development of the battery pack’s mechanical structure, electronic and electrical architecture, vehicle-level thermal management strategy, BMS requirements, and software strategy, thereby comprehensively managing the battery’s safety and performance at the system level.
