During NIO's Q2 FY2026 earnings call, Li Bin, founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO, addressed questions about whether the company would enter the robotics business. He stated that the robotics industry chain is still in its early stages and that NIO has already invested in several companies in this field. Li noted that the automotive industry itself is a massive market that existed long before NIO’s emergence, and it would be unrealistic to expect NIO to pioneer every new initiative. He emphasized that NIO’s current priority is to sell more vehicles effectively and drive the company toward solid profitability. Li also remarked that it is not unusual for automakers to venture into robotics—most players in the industry are making moves in this area—but NIO will remain focused on excelling in its core automotive business for now. According to NIO’s financial report for the first half of fiscal year 2026 (January to June 2026), released in September 2026, the company reported total revenue of RMB 57.67 billion, an 85.9% year-over-year increase; gross profit of RMB 10.766 billion, up 282.16% year-over-year; and a net loss attributable to shareholders of RMB 1.218 billion, representing an 89.88% year-over-year narrowing of losses.
