As part of its brand revitalization plan, Maserati, a subsidiary of Stellantis, is in talks with Chinese companies Huawei and JAC Motors to establish a strategic alliance. The three parties have already made substantial progress on a joint electric vehicle (EV) development project. Although a formal agreement has not yet been signed, most key obstacles have been resolved, with the goal of fully implementing and operationalizing the partnership by 2027. Currently, the trio is jointly developing their first EV model, and the prototype has already entered the preliminary industrial design phase. If the cooperation framework agreement is formally signed, the vehicle could enter mass production as early as the end of 2027. The project will adopt a "dual-brand strategy": vehicles developed on the same engineering platform will be sold under the "Zunjie" brand in the Chinese market and bear Maserati’s iconic "Trident" badge in overseas markets. The final location for the production line—either in Italy or China—has not yet been confirmed. Moreover, this project represents just one component of Maserati’s broader strategic roadmap. The company is simultaneously advancing multiple other vehicle programs currently in the feasibility study phase. A comprehensive strategic blueprint is scheduled to be unveiled at the company’s Investor Day later this year. Stellantis has declined to comment on specific details of the collaboration, stating only that it maintains regular dialogue with industry partners globally to deliver optimal mobility solutions for customers, and that it does not comment on market rumors.
