China GT Shanghai Race Fire Forces FIST_Auto Team Withdrawal After Driver Rescued

During the fourth round of the China GT Championship held in Shanghai on September 5, a serious on-track incident occurred involving Car No. 91 of the FIST_Auto team. The car caught fire immediately after impact. Loek Hartog, driver of Car No. 79 for Phantom Racing, who was driving normally at the time, noticed the fire, abandoned his own race, exited his vehicle, and successfully rescued the trapped driver. Footage from the scene shows that during the rescue, the fire on the stricken car continued to intensify, producing thick smoke and requiring extinguishers to bring it under control. On the evening of September 5, FIST_Auto issued a statement accusing the event organizers of serious negligence in on-site emergency response and safety rescue protocols, citing clear gaps in rescue coordination. The team stated that race officials prematurely and recklessly announced over the radio that the driver had already exited the car without verifying the actual situation. In light of this, FIST_Auto announced its immediate withdrawal from all China GT series events until the organizing committee completes a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation into the rescue failures related to this incident and provides the team with an official response.
