According to an investor relations activity record released by BYD on September 4, the company has struggled this year to meet strong demand for its ultra-fast charging services due to battery production capacity constraints. On March 5, BYD launched its second-generation Blade Battery, claiming it can charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. On August 28, BYD completed construction of its 10,000th ultra-fast charging station and plans to expand the total number to 20,000 by the end of this year. Additionally, BYD expressed optimism about the prospects of its energy storage business, particularly benefiting from the growth of AI data centers, and noted rapidly increasing demand for power semiconductors and silicon carbide (SiC). Its subsidiary, BYD Semiconductor, possesses full-chain capabilities in chip design, wafer fabrication, and packaging and testing, making it China’s largest automotive-grade semiconductor company.
