National Standard for Electronic Function Technical Specifications of Child Restraint Systems in Motor Vehicles to Take Effect on October 1

Starting October 1, the national standard "Technical Specifications for Electronic Functions of Child Restraint Systems for Motor Vehicle Occupants" (GB/T 47246—2026) will take effect. This is the first national standard specifically developed for child safety seats with electronic functions, covering technical requirements such as product classification, performance criteria, testing methods, labeling, and documentation. Regarding core basic functionalities, the standard specifies requirements for features including low-battery alerts, anti-pinch mechanisms, child restraint status detection, installation reminders, and audible signals from sound-emitting devices. It also sets provisions for communication interaction, data transmission, and child presence detection alerts. In terms of safety protection, the standard details requirements to prevent incorrect battery installation and injuries caused by damaged electronic components, while establishing comprehensive electrical performance specifications across the entire product chain. For mechanical and reliability aspects, it defines mechanical load standards—including vibration and drop resistance—as well as reliability criteria for switches, rotating parts, and connectors.
