Avatr Tech President Chen Zhuo Announces Dual-Line Design Strategy, with Flagship 9-Series SUV as First Model

On September 10, 2026, Avatr Technology President Chen Zhuo posted a statement addressing the design of the Avatr 9-series flagship SUV, responding to comments questioning why it “doesn’t look very Avatr.” Chen explained that Avatr will advance a dual-design lineage: one is the Pioneer series, represented by the Avatr 11 and 12, with next-generation models currently in development; the other is the Flagship series, for which the Avatr 9-series is the debut model. Earlier this month, Avatr officially announced the arrival of the new Avatr 9-series vehicle, co-designed by Avatr and Huawei Qiankun. Additionally, the Avatr T09 has completed its regulatory filing and will be offered in two powertrain variants. Its dimensions are 5,285 mm in length, 2,025 mm in width, and either 1,810 mm or 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,150 mm, front track of 1,726 mm, rear track of 1,740 mm, and a rated seating capacity of six passengers. The two variants differ in their powertrain specifications: The first variant is equipped with a JL469ZQ1 engine manufactured by Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd., with a displacement of 1,497 ml, rated power of 110 kW, and maximum net engine power of 105 kW. The front and rear drive motor models are AYDM05 and XTDM81, respectively, delivering peak powers of 180 kW and 310 kW. Its curb weights are 2,880 kg / 2,968 kg, gross vehicle weight is 3,505 kg, and top speed is 220 km/h. The second variant features a JL478ZQ1 engine with a displacement of 1,998 ml, rated power of 155 kW, and maximum net engine power of 150 kW. Its front, rear-left, and rear-right drive motor models are AYDM05, ATDM05, and ATDM05, respectively, with peak powers of 180 kW, 225 kW, and 225 kW. This variant has a curb weight of 3,035 kg, gross vehicle weight of 3,630 kg, and a top speed of 220 km/h.
