Tesla Submits Plan for Second Austin Robotaxi-Dedicated Charging Station with 24 V4 Chargers

On September 13, publicly released permit documents and design drawings shared by X platform user MarcoRPi1 (@MarcoRPi1) revealed that Tesla has submitted plans to construct a 24-stall DC fast-charging station at its existing sales, delivery, and service center located at 2323 Riata Pointe Drive in northeast Austin. The project’s drawing folder labels the development as “2323 Riata Pointe Drive – Robotaxi Project.” This marks Tesla’s second commercial fleet charging station proposal recently filed in the Austin area. Plans for the East St. Elmo Road charging hub, disclosed several weeks ago, indicate Phase 1 will feature 48 V4 chargers, with Phase 2 adding inductive wireless charging pads, bringing the total to 80 wireless charging stalls. The Riata Pointe site proposal includes three V4 Supercharger cabinets and 24 V4 charging posts, with no wireless charging equipment included. The power system comprises a 2,500 kVA utility transformer and a 4,000-amp distribution panel. The plan calls for reconfiguring approximately 29 to 32 existing parking spaces at the rear of the site, installing retractable bollards suitable for compact new-energy vehicles, and mounting wireless access points on streetlight poles to enable communication with arriving vehicles. Currently, the production version of the Cybercab retains a concealed NACS charging port in the rear bumper, and the Robotaxi fleet—converted from standard Model Y vehicles—also uses wired charging connectors. According to plans, the Cybercab will eventually transition entirely to inductive wireless charging. Last week, Tesla officially launched passenger trial rides in the Cybercab. Earlier filings also indicate that Tesla’s Robotaxi depots will be equipped with automated car-washing robots capable of vacuuming interiors, disinfecting surfaces, and wiping windows.
