BMW Files Patent for New Drift System with German Patent and Trademark Office

BMW has filed a patent application with the German Patent and Trade Mark Office for a new drift assistance system. The patent directly acts on the suspension system to temporarily reduce rear axle load, helping the rear of the vehicle break traction and initiate a controlled slide. This differs from the existing torque vectoring technology used in BMW M models.
