smart China Launches Early Bird Program for smart #2 with 298 Yuan Reservation Fee

On September 14, 2026, smart China announced the launch of the early-bird program for the all-new smart #2, with a reservation deposit of RMB 298. The deposit is refundable, and early-bird benefits include a complimentary color upgrade (free selection of any paid exterior color), priority test drive access (guaranteed placement on the initial test drive invitation list), and an entry into a lucky draw. The smart #2 is a two-seater all-electric vehicle built on smart’s 100% in-house developed ECA architecture, featuring a minimum turning diameter of 6.95 meters. It is equipped with a 35.7 kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC-rated range of nearly 400 km and supporting DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes. According to filings submitted to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the vehicle measures 2,751 mm / 2,764 mm in length, 1,669 mm in width, 1,555 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 1,875 mm. Its curb weight is 1,130 kg, gross vehicle weight is 1,315 kg, and top speed is 140 km/h. Powering the vehicle is a TZ160XS00A electric motor produced by Xingqu Technology (Jiaxing) Co., Ltd., rated at 60 kW. The energy storage system uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells manufactured by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), with battery packs assembled by Zhejiang Jiyao Tongxing Energy Technology Co., Ltd.
