Chery to Launch Four SUVs in UK Market in 2027

Chery plans to launch four new or updated SUV models in the UK market by 2027. Since entering the UK market a year ago, Chery has sold a cumulative total of 29,000 vehicles. Its current UK lineup includes the Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9. The Tiggo X SUV, unveiled at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, is expected to be among these four upcoming models. The Tiggo X features a seven-seat layout and a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a body length of 5,000 mm, a combined output of 476 hp, torque of 630 N·m, and a CLTC-rated all-electric range of 200 km. Chery has established a new R&D center at the UTAC Millbrook test facility in Bedfordshire, initially tasked with localization adaptation. The company will adjust vehicle steering systems, chassis tuning, and advanced driver-assistance systems such as AEB to suit UK road conditions. The R&D team will use this facility to conduct trial installations and validation of new dampers, bushings, and software calibrations. Farrell Hsu, Managing Director of Chery UK, stated that the team will carry out testing and provide feedback on improvement proposals to headquarters in China. He also revealed that Chery’s long-term strategy is to equip its entire model range with plug-in hybrid systems as standard, allowing customers to select battery capacity based on their desired all-electric range.
