SAIC Volkswagen ID.ERA 5X Opens Blind Pre-Orders

On September 15, 2026, SAIC Volkswagen announced that blind pre-orders have officially opened for the ID.ERA 5X, the first all-electric model under its new ID.ERA sub-brand. The company has not yet disclosed the vehicle's pricing or official launch details. The ID.ERA 5X is equipped with a 192-line LiDAR, Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6H chip, and comes standard with the 4nm MTK 8676 automotive-grade cockpit chip. It features the “Xingyun Zhixing” intelligent driving assistance system, delivering 420 TOPS of computing power for advanced driver assistance. This system enables end-to-end, full-scenario L2++ urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) functionality. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,560 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm. The front and rear tracks are 1,619 mm and 1,630 mm respectively, while the front and rear overhangs measure 875 mm and 870 mm. The ID.ERA 5X is Volkswagen’s first global production model based on the CMP platform and featuring the CEA electronic and electrical architecture—both developed specifically for the Chinese market. Powering the vehicle is a pure electric drivetrain with a rated power output of 63 kW and a peak power of 155 kW. It is paired with CATL batteries and complies with China’s latest national standards.
