Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, Toyota Motor and Others to Form Hydrogen-Powered Truck Alliance on September 15, 2026

Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, Toyota Motor, along with Bosch, Air Liquide, and several other companies plan to announce the formation of a hydrogen-powered truck alliance at the IAA Transportation 2026 commercial vehicle show in Hanover, Germany, on September 15, 2026. The alliance aims to integrate vehicle manufacturing with hydrogen supply chain infrastructure, promote the deployment of hydrogen refueling stations along major European freight corridors, and ensure hydrogen supply. The system will support both fuel cell electric vehicles and hydrogen internal combustion engine technologies. Previously, Daimler Truck, Volvo Group, and Toyota Motor have collaborated through their fuel cell joint venture, Cellcentric, while Bosch will provide standalone fuel cell systems. The inclusion of energy companies enables the alliance to span the entire value chain—from vehicles to hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and refueling. Alliance members maintain cooperation with German government policymakers.
