Porsche Launches 80%-Scale Electric 550 J Junior Spyder Starting at $93,800

On September 16, Hedley Studios unveiled the 550 J Junior Spyder. This model is an 80%-scale, all-electric recreation of the 1953 550 Spyder, with a starting price of USD 93,800 (approximately RMB 631,000) before tax. Limited to 250 units globally, deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2027. The 550 J is part of Porsche’s celebration of 75 years of motorsport heritage. Each vehicle is hand-assembled in the UK, featuring a steel spaceframe chassis and a carbon fiber body. It measures approximately 2.9 meters in length and 1.2 meters in width, accommodating two occupants, with a total weight of 330 kg. Powering the 550 J is a 48V all-electric drivetrain. The standard version produces a maximum output of 11 hp, with a top speed of 64 km/h on private property or closed circuits. With the optional RS Package, output increases to 22 hp and top speed rises to 80 km/h, offering a range of approximately 48 to 80 km. For comparison, the original 1953 550 Spyder weighed around 550 kg and was powered by a 1.5-liter flat-four engine, delivering between 109 and 133 hp depending on the variant. A total of 90 units were produced through 1956. Porsche explicitly stated in its official press release that the 550 J is not road-legal and is intended solely as a collectible for use on private estates and track days. It cannot be registered, insured, or driven on public roads.
