Stellantis plans to invest over €1 billion (approximately $1.16 billion) to produce a new van model at a plant in France. According to informed sources, Stellantis will upgrade its existing facility in Hordain, northern France, and allocate R&D resources across other regions of France to support production of the new vehicle. The company expects to bring certain production processes—previously handled by suppliers—back into its own manufacturing system and enhance efficiency at the Hordain plant through increased automation. A Stellantis spokesperson declined to comment on the matter. Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, has been in office for more than a year. In 2025, Stellantis sold approximately 1.65 million commercial vehicles globally. The group aims to achieve annual cost savings of €6 billion by 2028 and boost capacity utilization at its plants in Rennes, France, and parts of Spain through partnerships with Chinese automakers Leapmotor and Dongfeng. Earlier in 2026, Filosa announced an investment exceeding €1 billion to enable the Mulhouse plant in eastern France to start producing three new Peugeot all-electric and hybrid models from 2029 onward. The company’s Pro One commercial vehicle division plans to launch 11 new or updated models by 2030. Last month, Filosa pledged to retain Stellantis’ 12 production sites in France. Stellantis faced profitability pressures in the second quarter of 2026.
