OmniVision Unveils VDO Charging Solutions at IAA Transportation

During the IAA Transportation trade fair in Hanover, OMV unveiled for the first time its end-to-end connectivity solution tailored for new-energy commercial vehicles and launched a charging solution under the VDO brand. This integrated offering connects core components of electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and digital fleet management to provide comprehensive support for electric trucks, buses, and specialized work vehicles. The newly introduced VDO charging infrastructure portfolio targets commercial vehicle fleets and covers both AC and DC charging stations. The product range extends from portable mobile charging solutions to high-power charging systems, serving diverse applications including electric bus depots, logistics and delivery fleets, municipal service fleets, industrial fleets, and enterprise-owned campuses. On the vehicle side, OMV offers control units enabling bidirectional communication between vehicles and charging stations, energy and charging management solutions, battery and onboard electrical system functionalities, as well as electronic control unit integration kits. These components are compatible with both AC and DC charging methods and can be integrated into various types of commercial vehicles. OMV also showcased the VDO Fleet ecosystem at the event. This platform consolidates data from vehicles and charging infrastructure, enabling real-time monitoring of charging status, energy consumption levels, vehicle availability, and charging session details. By integrating the operational readiness status of chargers within depots, the system helps operators incorporate charging schedules into their daily planning. Publicly available information indicates that OMV China traces its origins to Continental AG’s automotive division, which entered the Chinese market in 1994. As of August 2026, OMV operates 11 production bases and five major R&D centers in China, employing approximately 9,500 people.
