On September 17, 2026, the national Tesla Cybercab tour kicked off its debut in Shanghai at the North Hall of LG1, HKRI Taikoo Hui, running through September 21. On the same day, the Cybercab exhibition also began at the Tesla Experience Store in Beijing’s China Central Place, continuing until September 27. Tesla clarified that this event is strictly a static display and does not involve any plans for the Cybercab’s market launch, sales, or commercial robotaxi operations in China. Tesla officially announced on September 14 that the Cybercab would be exhibited in China. This marks the vehicle’s first public appearance in the Chinese market, having previously been showcased only overseas. The Cybercab is a two-seater vehicle designed by Tesla specifically for autonomous ride-hailing scenarios. It eliminates the steering wheel, pedals, and side mirrors, and features a 22-inch central touchscreen, butterfly doors, and a liftback trunk. The vehicle is equipped with eight cameras and relies on a pure vision, end-to-end neural network system powered by Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. The Cybercab was first unveiled as a concept vehicle at Tesla’s “We, Robot” event in October 2024. The first production unit rolled off the line at Gigafactory Texas in February 2026, with full-scale production commencing in April—approximately 18 months after its initial reveal. The vehicle is built using a "unboxed" manufacturing process, which involves parallel subassembly production followed by final integration. The Cybercab is currently operating with paying passengers in Texas, United States.
