On September 17, the 23rd China–ASEAN Expo opened in Nanning. Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd. (DFLZ) participated with new energy vehicles under its Chenglong and Forthing brands and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Vietnamese partners during the expo, planning to jointly invest in building a commercial vehicle KD (Knock-Down) assembly plant. In the passenger vehicle segment, Forthing showcased the Xinghai V9 Camping Edition and the Xinghai V6. The Xinghai V9 Camping Edition is equipped with a 1.5T Mach hybrid electric powertrain, offering a CLTC pure-electric range of 200 km and a combined range of 1,300 km, with an official starting price of RMB 258,800. The Xinghai V6 features Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 SE intelligent driving system, with a pre-sale starting price of RMB 104,900; its right-hand-drive version was also unveiled at the expo. In the commercial vehicle segment, the Chenglong brand exhibited three new energy models. The Chenglong H7 hydrogen fuel cell tractor is powered by a 400 kW fuel cell stack and equipped with a 70 MPa high-pressure hydrogen storage system, achieving a combined range exceeding 1,500 km, with deliveries expected to surpass 1,800 units in 2025. The Chenglong Yiwei 5 Super Energy pure-electric tractor has a curb weight reduced to 8.8 tons and a combined energy consumption of 1.1 kWh per kilometer. The Chenglong Yiwei 2 intelligent pure-electric light truck is fitted with five LiDAR units and NVIDIA automotive-grade chips, delivering a total computing power of 508 TOPS. Also on display were the Chenglong Kunpeng flying car and the Chenglong Chitu RoboVAN autonomous logistics vehicle. Under the company’s “Chengfeng Dual-Energy Plan,” DFLZ aims to achieve scaled expansion of its overseas business by 2030. Currently, the Chenglong brand is present in eight ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. In 2025, the brand sold 11,057 units in the ASEAN market and captured a 55% share of Vietnam’s medium-duty truck segment. Regarding ASEAN market network development, DFLZ already operates 30 integrated direct-sales and service outlets in Vietnam. In Thailand, the company plans to build at least 100 new sales and service outlets with partners over the next three years and co-establish a smart manufacturing facility.
