XPeng Robotics Begins Gradual Mass Production as He Xiaopeng Says Building Robots Is Nearly 20x Harder Than Making Cars

On the evening of September 17, He Xiaopeng, Chairman of XPeng Group, stated in an interview that developing robots is nearly 20 times more difficult than building cars. He noted that XPeng's robots are fully self-developed in terms of hardware, software, design, and supply chain. He added that XPeng robots have already begun gradual mass production, and their capabilities are expected to make significant leaps in Q4 2026, Q1 2027, and Q2 2027. Regarding XPeng's in-house battery development strategy, He Xiaopeng said that starting in 2026, XPeng will produce batteries itself, but it will not manufacture battery cells.
