On September 18, 2026, Melexis announced the launch of two isolated current sensors: the MLX91224 and MLX91225. Both devices are available in three package options—DE, DG, and DH—and support current measurements up to 100 ARMS, complying with ASIL B functional safety requirements. The MLX91224 and MLX91225 integrate a low-impedance current conductor, Hall sensing elements, signal conditioning circuitry, and an isolation barrier within a SOIC package. The primary current flows through the lead frame inside the package, while two sets of Hall plates employ a differential sensing architecture to capture magnetic flux, enabling an isolation rating of up to 1640 VRMS. Both devices were developed according to the ISO 26262 SEooC (Safety Element out of Context) standard. Key specifications for each package option are as follows: - **DE package**: SOIC6FL format, rated for continuous RMS current of 50 A, with overcurrent detection (OCD) functionality. - **DG package**: SOIC16W format. - **DH package**: SOIC12W FL format, supporting continuous RMS current up to 100 A and a surge current rating of ±29 kA. All variants on this platform support AC and DC current measurement, unipolar or bipolar sensing, and ratiometric or fixed output configurations. The MLX91224 is designed for 5V systems, while the MLX91225 targets 3.3V systems. Overcurrent detection (OCD) is provided via a dedicated pin, with the threshold either factory-preconfigured or externally adjustable through the OCD-TH pin. The operating ambient temperature range is from -40°C to +150°C. Samples of both the MLX91224 and MLX91225 in all three package types, along with evaluation boards, are now available.
