The Chery Jaguar Land Rover Freelander 8 was launched on the evening of September 3, and within 12 hours of its debut, it received over 5,000 confirmed large deposits. The vehicle measures 5,118 mm (5,185 mm) in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,898 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. It offers either a 2+2+2 six-seat or a five-seat configuration. Developed collaboratively by FREELANDER, Huawei, CATL, and Qualcomm, the Freelander 8 comes standard across all trims with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8397 automotive-grade chip, Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving system, and an 800V high-voltage platform. Interior features include a 15.6-inch Mini LED central touchscreen and a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted rear screen. In terms of powertrain, the Freelander 8 is equipped standard across all variants with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder range extender featuring ENC technology, achieving a thermal efficiency of 45.79%—capable of generating 3.7 kWh of electricity per liter of 92-octane gasoline. All models feature dual-motor all-wheel drive, delivering a combined output of 610 kW and peak torque of 813 N·m, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 4.6 seconds. Standard equipment also includes a 250 kW two-speed rear motor capable of delivering up to 8,000 N·m of wheel-end torque, ±10° rear-wheel steering for a turning radius no greater than 5.15 meters, closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension, CCD continuously variable damping shock absorbers, and a front mechanical differential lock. For battery specifications, the Freelander 8 comes standard with CATL’s Xiaoyao hybrid all-terrain dedicated battery pack, offering a capacity of 60.3 kWh and a CLTC pure-electric range of 310 km.
