On October 30 local time, Bentley disclosed testing and development information for the Torkar, its first all-electric SUV. Engineers subjected the Torkar to several years of testing, accumulating more than 1 million kilometers of test mileage. Test locations included environments at minus 38°C in Sweden, desert areas above 40°C, and sections of the Pikes Peak route in the United States above 4,267 meters in altitude. The Torkar's launch edition produces a maximum output of 888 horsepower and peak torque of 1,350 N·m. Development work was carried out simultaneously by three teams responsible for the electrical/electronic architecture, software integration, and testing. During the physical design verification phase, engineers received more than 90% of the components and used laser scanning to compare physical parts against CAD design data. During development, software was updated every six weeks, and each version underwent laboratory and real-vehicle testing. The Torkar's battery pack weighs approximately 625 kg and has an energy density exceeding 180 Wh/kg, while the vehicle weighs approximately 2,795 kg. The new model adopts an 800V battery architecture, with a total battery capacity of 113.3 kWh and 109.0 kWh of usable capacity. It supports DC fast charging at up to 400 kW, enabling a charge from 10% to 80% in 16 minutes. For battery safety, the Torkar is equipped with a composite-material crash protection shield, and the battery is required to show no fire spread or explosion for at least two hours after a thermal anomaly occurs. Chassis impact testing uses a steel projectile 30 mm in diameter and weighing approximately 111 g, fired at the battery enclosure at a speed exceeding 159 km/h. The battery pack has also passed salt-spray corrosion and other environmental durability tests.
