On November 4, Tesla pushed a software update that lowered the maximum overspeed margin for its driver-assistance system from 50% to 10%, and renamed FSD Supervised to Tesla Assisted Driving. Under the adjustment, the maximum overspeed margin is 10%, and the default setting resets to 0% at each startup. In early October, Tesla's official websites in multiple European countries had already replaced Full Self-Driving (Supervised) with Tesla Assisted Driving, abbreviated as TAD, with the official websites in Germany, Belgium, Denmark and other countries updated accordingly. The renaming and speed-limit adjustment currently apply only to the European market; the FSD name in the U.S. and Chinese markets has not yet been changed. Germany's transport minister previously set out two preconditions: changing the product name and limiting overspeed to within 10% of the speed limit. The FSD name has been in use since 2016. The California Department of Motor Vehicles previously sued Tesla for false advertising, and a German court ruled that the name is misleading. Entry of Tesla's assisted-driving system into Europe requires an EU-wide vote, which was originally scheduled for October 6 but has now been postponed to December. The vote requires support from at least 15 countries to pass; 10 countries have so far approved TAD.
