In April 2019, Hyundai's tenth-generation Sonata made its world premiere at the New York Auto Show. As a major product of the brand, not only did it use the new "Sensuous Sportiness" new design concept for this new car, based on the i-GMP platform. The tenth-generation Sonata made in China will be launched in the middle and late July. A few days ago, IIA learned from Beijing Hyundai that the tenth generation Sonata has been officially mass-produced off the assembly line at Beijing Hyundai’s second factory. The new car will start pre-sale at the 2020 Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Auto Show that will open on June 20.

The new car adopts ultra-high-tension steel and hot stamping technology at the main position of the body structure, which increases the average strength of the car model by more than 10%. In the welding process, Beijing Hyundai completed the welding of more than 2,000 places on each body with 330 robots, realizing 100% automation and intelligence in welding, gluing, and operation. During the painting process, Beijing Hyundai has also achieved complete automation, and developed and adopted high-chromatic red for the first time. The application of 3 coat red has excellent performance in terms of color saturation, weightiness, and particle sense, and improves the vividness of colors.

In terms of power, the tenth-generation Sonata’s 1.5T turbocharged engine uses CVVD (Continuously Variable Valve Duration)technology, which can change the duration of engine intake valve opening and closing, so that the engine can better adapt to different tasks. In addition, its maximum power is 125 kilowatts, and its maximum torque is 253 Nm. It is matched with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The comprehensive fuel consumption per 100 kilometers is only 5.6 liters. The other power system is a 2.0T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 176.5 kilowatts and a peak torque of 353 Nm. It is matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission and has a comprehensive fuel consumption of 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
