BMW dealers in the U.S. are urging the brand to launch a full-size, three-row SUV larger than the X7 to compete directly with the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and Infiniti QX80. Although the current X7 offers three rows of seating, it is noticeably smaller in size—measuring 8.3 inches shorter, 2.4 inches narrower, and 4.5 inches lower than the Escalade. Additionally, its cargo space behind the third row is just 12.8 cubic feet, significantly less than the Escalade’s 25.5 cubic feet. Kirk Cordell, chairman of the BMW National Dealer Council, stated that dealers would “have tremendous potential” if BMW introduced a larger model, suggesting the company could leverage the Alpina brand—which BMW acquired in 2022—to develop such a vehicle. Despite the rapid growth of the full-size luxury SUV segment, BMW has not yet confirmed whether it will introduce a new model in this category for the U.S. market.
